Blogging Joy is a well-known blogger & perfect if you are looking for useful tutorials on WordPress, Web Hosting, Affiliate Marketing & Speed Optimization & blogging tips. He has 10+ years of experience in blogging. Well, let’s continue reading Santanu Debnath interview.

1.) Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?

Thank you for inviting me on your blog to share my blogging journey. Hello friends, I am Santanu Debnath, a software professional, and a part-time blogger. Blogging is my passion and I love spending time writing useful articles for bloggers on my blog

Besides that, I have started a Facebook Group, The Blogger’s Team where I regularly interact with my fellow bloggers and try to help them to be a better blogger by sharing useful information regularly. Few of my awesome blogging buddies are helping me to grow this community and I would love to mention them here: Saurabh Tiwari, Rahul Bhicher, Navin Rao.

2.) Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I & Manidipa are childhood best friends and continuing that journey after marriage too. We have discovered our biggest happiness while cooking and that is what helped us to start our first blog.

Before that, I entered into online money making in 2007 and got trapped into the typical money making scams. But gradually came to know about the Google AdSense program.

I have applied to Google AdSense by creating a one-page website on a subdomain and it got approved. At that time it was very easy and frankly speaking, I had no idea about web designing or build a blog.

But after some more hustling, in 2009, we have started our first blog on recipe niche which doesn’t clicked well. Then in 2012 we started (multi-niche blog).

I always love to write and Manidipa is the perfect proofreader with great English editing skills. She is an awesome content writer too. We started writing articles on that website together and got results in next 2 years.

That’s how our blogging team formed and we are enjoying this journey to date.

3.) Can you tell me some of your strengths that really helped you in blogging?

The biggest driving force behind pursuing blogging is interest & passion. This is common for every blogger and it’s the same for me as well.

I love to read a lot and then write articles in my way to share the topic. In fact, I love to write stories and that is what came out as a big strength in blogging.

In my childhood, I wrote a few stories on paper. But lost them somewhere due to multiple shiftings we did till date. Anyway, what I want to say is that writing is something I have always been passionate about.

My other strength is Manidipa. As best friends, we always pursue the same interest. She is an awesome blogger, but most importantly she has very good editing & proofreading skills.

When I can write thousands of words every day, she is always there to do the proofreading, editing, fixing grammatical errors, SEO optimization, etc. And, that’s how we complement each other.

4.) What type of networking do you think is better to enhance your traffic to the blog?

There should be only one type of networking, that is honesty & friendship. If you start networking for the sake of building links & bring traffic then my dear friend, be ready to get abandoned by everyone in the coming days.

People understand your actions easily. So, no need to pretend things and you can’t actually. Try to make friends, share good & helpful content on your blog. If you are able to connect with people then your blog will start getting traffic.

My words may sound like lectures, but understand one thing that traffic means real people visiting your website. So, you have to do something good to help them so that they stick to your website. And not just exploring your website once and never coming back again. That’s a very bad thing for your reputation and of course for SEO.

5.) How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?

As a part-time blogger, it is very difficult to find enough time to blog peacefully. And you need a strong team to manage your blogs. That’s exactly what we are doing together.

Generally, I work 2-3 hours a day on weekdays. My Saturday & Sunday are completely dedicated to various tasks related to blogging. As Manidipa is a full-time blogger, she is helping me to manage multiple things in weekdays, whenever needed.

Most importantly, Blogging is my passion and I know how to find time to write something or share something or read something related to my niche. And I am sure every smart blogger is aware of that as well.

6.) What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

It depends upon the purpose and the niche. When I work on a pure affiliate website just to make money, SEO plays the biggest role. For that, I just have to make sure to rank my article on top for the buyer search terms. And that’s it as the user is also not that much worried about other things as he/she just wants to get some useful info to buy that product.

But while running a blog like, these things don’t work always. Here people are looking for useful content which is actually shared from some experiences. So, here the strategy is to work more hard to prove something and share the real-time experiences with the readers.

Another thing I always try to do is to help fellow bloggers to grow their blogs. I always encourage people, appreciate everyone’s work as it is really difficult to come out of comfort zone and when I find people are doing that I can’t stop myself to applaud them. That way I am able to build an authority in my niche and gradually getting trust. So people follow my blog and always share honest feedback.

7.) Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?

There are a lot of people who inspired me to get into blogging and explore different aspects of it. But I want to say that in my early days of blogging Mustafa of was my biggest inspiration.

After that, I followed the journey of Harsh Agarwal of ShoutMeLoud and Manish Chauhan of and learned a lot in blogging. I was stunned to find their courage to quit the jobs in their early days of career and giving 100% to pursuing their passion. That’s why they are successful now.

8.) What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

As a part-time blogger, the biggest challenge is always to give enough time to blogging. Due to personal priorities, there are times when I have to stay away from blogging.

I was not able to execute any plan consistently and that has always been the biggest challenge in my blogging journey. I am trying to be consistent from last 4-5 months and the result is simply awesome.

9.) How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

Motivation is the biggest thing one needs in blogging. After starting the Facebook group, I found a very engaging community with whom I can continuously discuss various topics of blogging.

To stay motivated, you need a group of like-minded people so that you can discuss similar things and continue your passion.

Now, this has totally transformed me a lot. Right now I have a clear motive about what to blog on my website. I am regularly sharing helpful articles to address various common issues every blogger is facing.

10.) How much time do you spend blogging?

There is no such routine though. Besides my regular work and personal priorities whatever time I get, I try to put that into blogging. That includes everything like reading, writing, engaging with FB group posts and members, etc.

11.) Would you encourage other people to make their blog?

Yes, this is what I love to do always. I don’t believe in blind promotion about myself. Rather I frequently share posts of different bloggers and always appreciate others’ work.

In my blog home page also, I am sharing the same tag line. If I can generate a passive income opportunity through blogging, then why not you?

12.) Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?

I have mentioned a few of the top bloggers who inspired me. Besides that, this list is really huge. Frankly speaking, I don’t have any particular reason to like someone.

I don’t judge someone by their character, rather through their behavior, how they react and help others. Whoever is helping others to get into blogging or any kind of help will always be my friend.

You may not need to be a pro-blogger, but your action and purpose should be clean. I like such people a lot and this list is really huge. 😊

13.) Cool tips for a newbie?

Well, there is no such cool tips actually. This field is really tough and not at all for people who are trying to make some quick money. In fact, you may not understand what is going on in the first 6-9 months. Just a few quick things I want to say that I learned from my mistakes.

Don’t try to write on every single niche, find out the one as per your interest. Not necessary for money making blog though, but you must know how to get quality content for that niche.

Don’t just buy many domains. Try to build a website and make it successful before you start the 2nd website

Learn SEO by continuous reading of different case studies. Practice more by creating free blogs on Blogspot.

Forget about making money, just try to build good relationships and learn how to get traffic to your blog.

I hope my answers will help readers. You can always reach out to me through my contact page or by joining my Facebook Group. Ask me any of your blogging related problem, I would be happy to answer your questions to help you to be a better blogger.
