Well, let’s continue reading the Gurunath Nakka interview.
1.) Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I am Gurunath a MBA marketing graduate by education and profession. I have come from a small town of Andhra Pradesh in 2011 and settled now in Hyderabad, Telangana.
I have worked with companies like Reliance Communications, Reliance Life Insurance at various designations and my highest designation was as a Branch head in RLIC. I was leading a team of 10 Sales Managers, 200 Financial advisors and other admin team. I used to draw a gross of 5 lacs per annum salary.
My life turned upside down when I met a major accident in 2011 and lucky to live on this earth and unlucky to broke my acetabular, femur bones and got surgery. This accident forced me to sit at home as I cant run, jag and sit on floor and can’t travel continuously for certain long periods.
This situation forced me to look for either sitting jobs as against to my Marketing/Sales Job. Joined a small firm (CFA agency) in Pharmaceutical Industry in Hyderabad as my wife and their family stays in Hyderabad. With a mere 10k per month I was struggling to meet the expenses and other medicine expenses during that time.
2.) Describe how did you first get into blogging?
In continuation from the 1st point above, slowly I started to search online for work from home jobs or income sources. During 2015 early months, I was learning Web designing online through Skype from my relatives friend. But as I have fobia on mathematics, accounting and numbers, the coding looked like a nightmare to me.
One fine day I came to know about blogging and blogs. Started a casual blog on Blogger platform in 2015 with movies and films as a niche as I am passionate about movies and sports only.
But as I didn’t seem to get any income from blogging and also no idea how and where I get them though. During this phase I come across some good friends in Facebook who are doing decent in blogging that time and some earnings too. With guidance from Manpreet Kaur from Finix Post and Nirmala Santha Kumar from mymagicfunda / WPGlossy (now), I started my first blog bestofguru.net (re branded to bloggingdock.com now).
3.) Can you tell me some of your strengths that really helped you in blogging?
I can say my social networking, marketing skills are the ones that helped me in my initial blogging days as I used to be in touch with some of the reputed bloggers.
Also, I am daily learner and I used to take lot of help from them. This also helped me in doing some roundup posts and interviews which they easily insipired me and my audience. This is one of the genuine traffic sources those days and if I am not wrong, I was the guy who did a mammoth roundup posts in that era of 2015 to 2016 years (especially in India) and slowly many Indian bloggers started doing those heavy roundup posts.
4.) What type of networking do you think is better to enhance your traffic to the blog?
As already discussed this in the 3rd point above, Social networking is the best source of traffic to any blog especially for new bloggers or you are just getting into blogging game.
Slowly you can outreach your blog buddies and do some quality guest posts and get some backlinks, comment on all the blog posts that you read, get yourself busy in community forums and groups and try to share your blog posts there.
5.) How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?
This is the place where I failed desperately after a year or 2 of blogging as I got busy offline and into digital marketing (bloggers outreach). I used to maintain few blogs and as I told in point 4 above, I spend 1-2 hours on each blog and was doing good in that first 2 years. Managing time and continuous passion and dedication is what makes a difference from you and your competitor. I lost this things slowly after 2 years.
6.) Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
First I would say it was Harsh Agarwal when he visited Hyderabad in 2015 I was just starting and very new to blogging. He inspired me with his passion, dedication and income he generates through online sources.
After that Atish Ranjan, Nirmala, Jyoti Chauhan, Pranay Anumula, Siddaiah Tirupati, Kulwant Negi, Swadin, Manidipa and many others who gave daily, weekly motivation, advice and suggestions when I asked for.
But Atish is the only guy who is constantly helped me since we are friends online and till today and this guy helped me day and night whenever I needed help. More than that, Atish was good at Sponsored Posts and I got impacted and earned myself through sponsored posts with diversified list of blogs.
7.) What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
Time management, Continuous Passion, inactivity, irregular blog post publishing and sharing, tough competitors within my blog buddies.
8.) What inspired you to start your blog?
Online and Social Media Recognition along with decent income source if done it right ethically. Apart from that helping people by providing and sharing information for certain solutions which I found useful for myself.
9.) How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
Although I am not good at this thing, I keep myself constantly motivating to do certain task or thing every now and then.
I have failed miserably due to certain unavoidable offline works and health issues now and then that puts breaks on my commitments and goals.
To overcome this, I have reduced my blogs from 10 plus to 5 at the moment and in coming months will reduce to 1 or 2 maximum for more focus and dedication.
Reading some inspirational blogs and following your close blog buddies on social media and how they are performing is another great motivation you get from yourself.
10.) How much time do you spend blogging?
Previously 12 hours or so including writing articles on my own. With writing part has been delegated to my writers, I am spending around 6 hours hardly on my 4 blogs. Still has some offline and SEO out reaching tasks committed, so need to spend more on blogging may be another 2 hours extra.
11.) Would you encourage other people to make their blog?
Absolutely. I think if you plan and start a blog in a right away and with right vision in mind, definitely it is one of the best careers/business someone can look into.
12.) Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?
I have to list so many bloggers but as space here is limited, I would name few in certain situations and areas.
When it comes to overall favourites Atish Ranjan is only person that comes into my mind. After that Pranay, Siddaiah, Jyoti Chauhan, Manidipa, Swadhin, Nirmala, Manpreet Kaur, Yogita Aggarwal and recently Jane Sheeba and Santanu all these bloggers helps me and advices me when I ask for any help or query.
The list of favourite bloggers whom I taken as inspiration due to their popularity and income earnings through blogging are Harsh Aggarwal, Kuldeep Negi, Anil Aggarwal and Ankit Singla from India and many overseas bloggers.
The favourite Blogs I read regularly (although I am a bad reader and prefer only Videos in learning anything) are Neilpatel.com, Backlinko.com (Brian)
13.) Cool tips for newbie?
Just start the blog because many people hesitate even in starting a blog for the first time. Keep blogging and don’t worry about income and traffic or other things apart from Writing, Posting and Sharing of articles. Constant focus, dedication and passion is what is required to achieve success in Blogging.
Thanks for giving me this opportunity to share my views with your awesome readers and wish you and your blog a great success in the years to come.
