Can We Choose Blogging As A Career?

Blogging As A Career

Let’s start this topic with a conversation between a blogger & his relatives

  • They: What you do?
  • Me: I do blogging.
  • They: “Blo- Blogging”? What does it mean?
  • Me (after few seconds): I run a website through which I earn money.
  • They: In attitude, so you design websites???
  • Me (let’s end it): Yah….

Blogging as a career is slight tough in India (not de-motivating you guys) but it’s a harsh truth that we all knew from heart. The conversation is a sample and the biggest reason behind this is lack of awareness about blogging in India. In this post, I’ll share both points – Why a career as a Blogger is not preferable in India? And 6 BIG reasons why you blogging is a good career option?

Well, we can skip that shit and when you ask me about a career in blogging I must say you should go for it. Today’s there are many bloggers in India who are earning handsome amount through blogging and most common names among them are Harsh Aggarwal, Deepak Kanakraju, Sourav Jain and more like that. Besides them, a few other names that I would love to mention here are Santanu Debnath, Rahul, Santosh & Gurunath.

Why blogging as a career is not preferable in India?

No awareness

Awareness is a big factor in India development and the same is in blogging. I’ve come across many such incidences where bloggers did not get attention. The aforesaid conversation is one of the examples.

Quick income from Job

In India, there is a mentality to get your education completed, get a good job and start earning money. But sad to say, there are many friends of mine who completed their education and still aren’t getting the job for the last 3 yrs. Well, when I give them a suggestion to blog –they say they don’t want to waste time in blogging.

I’m not hitting punch at anyone here but if you are saying blogging is wastage of time then what about 2 years job hunting and still looking for a job (preferably GOVT JOB).

Family Pressure

You can’t ignore that fact that along with education pressure family pressure is something that stops you from starting your own blog. From childhood – often we come across the saying  – dekho sharma ji ke ldke ki job Apple me lag gyi, Aggarwal ji ki beti IBM me hai… and more like that.

But when you say your parents you want to be entrepreneur, bloggers or start your own business they stare you like you have committed a big crime. This kind of shit is another big reason that makes blogging as a career a tough decision.

Well, if you have the passion and have a hobby to express your feeling through writing, blogging is a perfect and great career for you.

Why Blogging As A Career is a Good Option?

You can express your own feeling, your own thoughts through your blog. You can promote your own products through your blog and most importantly you can help other bloggers and make money from your blog.

Confused How To Make Money Through a Blog?

“…they stare you like you have committed a big crime.” So true – either that or they look at you and roll their eyes and laugh. Luckily my family is supportive of what I am doing… others not so much at times but by and large positive.

  6. This is so insightful, really explains alot. I agree that its a good career if you have a passion for it!

  7. So agree, it’s tough for some to understand I’m sure but the benefits are there. If it makes you happy go for it!

  8. I can’t even imagine the family pressure!! Almost all the families at my son’s (gifted) school that are Indian, and there is a lot to do something academically.

  9. I really liked reading how to make money blogging such as placing advertisements on your blog, writing a sponsored post about a product or service, writing a guest post on someone else’s blog, or selling your own products or services.

Blogging may sound easy but it’s all about passion and hard work. It may not be an easy income at first but once you have settled, who knows it will give you a big break.
